May - Andrew

Andrew had Miss Brown for first grade and had a great year!  He worked hard getting to "living legend" on the behavior chart on many days.  He was a strong leader and a good friend.  He is a great reader and excels in math.

At home, he works really hard to get all of his jobs done quickly.  He likes following a checklist and getting it done so that he can play with a friend or watch a movie.  He started piano in January, and it seems to come pretty naturally to him.

He prefers comfy clothes (recreation jerseys and pajamas) and even tried to wear them to school on multiple occasions.  He has some pretty crazy clothes requests every day.  One day, he was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt on a warm day, and I questioned why he was wearing it.  When I asked to see what he was wearing underneath, sure enough, it was a pajama shirt.  I'm pretty sure his plan was going to be to take off his sweatshirt once he got to school.

This month, Andrew got a book from the library called "Three Ninja Pigs" and he memorized the entire book!  It was quite impressive.  The kids are good little memorizers, just like their daddy.

He likes to be dad's sidekick and even helped dad build the shed!

One day this month, he tried out for summer swim team.  It was pouring rain and he didn't even question me when I told him to get in the cold pool and swim when it was pouring rain.  He did great and made swim team!

Note from Andrew to Santa:  "Dear Santa, Merry Chrismas, well not were I am.  So lisin why have you never put me on the noty list?  I like that you do not.  You are awsome.  From your frend, Andrew"

May - Rachel

Rachel had Mr. Bezzant in 4th grade, and she adored him and he told the most animated stories.  I have to admit that I didn't have the best attitude about her being in Mr. Bezzant's class because I never had any clue what was going on or what they were working on (all I heard about was the stories he told).  I questioned why he continued teaching because he is so limited in his physical abilities (he had a terrible roof fall years ago), but Rachel has absolutely loved him!  Then on the last day of school, he sent home the sweetest note and it made me cry because I felt so terrible and humbled and grateful all at the same time.  I am afraid that I overlooked and underestimated the impact of the real-life lessons that he taught her that are way more important than times/division/fractions anyway.  I feel sorry for any of the complaining that I did!

Rachel is kind to everyone at school, includes others and is a good friend to many!  One girl in particular was in need of friends, and Rachel went out of your way to be a good friend to her.  The girl's mom requested that her daughter be in Rachel's class next year.  She also adores her cousins and they are some of her closest friends!

She's a good student and reading comes easy to her.  Even though math feels hard and isn't her favorite, she accomplished some big math goals this year.  She is also responsible and was good about waking up early for ballroom practice twice a week.  She is a good helper at home - particularly with Carson, and she enjoys babysitting.

She had a blue, then purple hair streak this year and always asked for different, complicated hair styles.  Some days, she would get frustrated that she didn't like it after I had spent all that time trying to do what she had asked me to do.  Yeah, me too.  Her and I had a spa-like experience this month at the Mommy-daughter spa night for Activity Days, and I enjoyed spending the time with her!

She enjoyed participating in the 4th grade play all about Utah history, and she even got a duet part with her friend, Keira!  She did great, and has a great singing voice.

OH YEAH, and she got BRACES this month and was stoked!! Seriously, I haven't ever known a child to WANT braces like she has!

May - Kendall

Kendall did a super good job in preschool this year with Miss Annette & Miss Andra!  She was kind and respectful and they even said that she was a good listener - what?!  She is a fantastic reader and a smart girl.

She made some new friends at school, but mostly she is a good buddy to Carson, and he loves having her around during the day.  Funny story - she told me that she was friends with Benson (pictured below) and Nash, but that she couldn't always tell them apart because they wore there hair the same way (both a faux hawk).  That is confusing sometimes!  :)

She loves to entertain herself (bless her heart!) and dance around the house to music.  You tell me that you were "born to dance".  You love going to dance class every week - especially since one of your BFF's from preschool (Kylee) is in your dance class.

She is nervous about losing a tooth - especially since her bottom adult tooth has already grown in behind her baby tooth.  For whatever reason, she is anxious about that.
