New Mom
Like most other first-time moms, I was very worried that Rachel wasn't getting enough to eat. I was trying to feed her every three hours (about 8 times per day), but she didn't seem to want to eat that much. Confession - during the first week, I was even waking her up at night if she had gone too long. She is a great night sleeper - she can go 4-5 hours between feedings - no problem. Anyway, the story is that I went to go get her weighed at one week just to make sure she was starting to gain some weight and she was 9 lb 2 oz - back to her birth weight at only one week! I think that might break some records! Don't worry, I have stopped "force feeding" the poor child and am letting her set her own schedule. She's doing great and is patient with the new mom - I can just picture her saying, "No, mom, not again - I don't need to eat yet! Give me some credit, I know what I'm doing."

She is so cute Whitney! It is hard to know what to do with feeding and sleeping and schedules. I am glad you are figuring it out! If you want a great resource guide read the book 'Baby Wise', I loved it!
She's beautiful. We can't wait to see her. We think that you should start force feeding your husband!
I'm sure I'll be just as worried as you about feedings. It's great she's sleeping well through the night though! I've been reading the book "Baby Wise," it gives you guidelines to follow to get a baby somewhat of a feeding schedule to help them establish a good nighttime sleep schedule. I sure hope it works for me!
What a beautiful little baby, congrats Whitney!
Okay, so this batch of pictures totally makes Rachel look like Mason!! Especially the angry face one. I love it!! Please keep posting.
hey guys! congratulations on the little one... bun gave us the inside scoop and told us to check out your blog. you can always count on bun! whitney, we'll have to trade baby stories since you're not far behind me. allie slept (and still does) through the night when we brought her home, and i also would wake her up to feed. ahhhh, new moms... tell brandon hi and we'll see you when we see you!
She's just the cutest little button I've ever seen!
I have to admit, with Julye telling me Dan was a ten pound baby, and Rachel weighing in at 9lbs. 2oz. and 22 inches... I'm a little nervous about what I'm getting myself into! No, I'm joking of course :) I can't wait to meet ya'll in person!
Whitney! I found your blog through Katherine and Shanes! What are the chances of that?
What a beautiful baby she is absolutely perfect! In her "Oh-so content with tummy time" picture she looks so much like our baby Natalie when she was that age, it's amazing! I hope your adjustment to motherhood is going well!

Hello Its Kiera bet your wondering how I came across your blog Karrissa's mom-then to her sight then to yours. I work graveyards right now with hours to kill-bloging is good entertainment. I have to say you baby is Beautiful! Congrats! It was fun looking at your blog. I think that I heard you are comming to Oceanside this summer so I might see you there how exciting.
I was the same way with Simon...but I quickly over came the night urge. I just with Jack would wait as long as Simon did. He has a much more substantial appetite. I also love Baby Wise. At any rate, I'm trying to remember how fast this time passes though it be stressful and painful.
She seems to have changed a lot already. I can't wait for Jack to wake up a bit and show us his eyes.
