December - Arizona Style

This year (similar to other years since living in the desert), I had a hard time getting in the Christmas Spirit.  (That's because it's 70 degrees, folks, and my Christmas Spirit radar gets confused.)  I was worried that I wasn't doing enough to make Christmas magical and fun with all the perfect traditions in place, etc. etc.  We read Christmas books, watched Christmas movies, visited Santa, attempted Christmas countdowns, decked the halls and had lots of hot chocolate.  BUT getting ready to travel to Utah for Christmas takes out a big chunk of my month.  I have to make sure the presents are all ready to go and that we all have enough warm clothes (which we never do) and that the car is ready to travel for Christmas and that we can fit everything in!  I feel like I was getting grumpy that all our traditions I was trying to put in place would be interrupted by our trip to Utah, until I finally realized that THAT is the tradition that my kids will remember and love and that I need to not stress about squeezing in everything before we leave.  They will remember spending every Christmas in Utah and how much fun we had with those we love, rather than the fact that we didn't finish our countdown or didn't read all our Christmas books or forgot to make paper snowflakes.

Kendall's spot - if I'm on the computer, she stands on my work box and stands right next to me

Rachel's school choir concert - front row - white shirt, white antlers

Andrew was captivated by the choir performance (not!  but he was doing snow angels on the dirty cafeteria floor)

Rachel and her friend, Dallin Mear, from both class and church

Rachel has been taking tennis lessons from Coach Ray and she loves it!

The Christmas train in Scottsdale is a must in December!  And we met up with the Wallbrecht's  (friends from Chicago), who now live in Gilbert.  Rachel & Andrew made fast friends with Owen and Carter.  We also saw Melissa Resch in December when we met at a mall in Scottsdale - they just moved to Glendale.  Fun to have some Chi-town friends here!

New cheese face just in time for all the Christmas pictures!  Oh goodie.
