I really do love girls camp! I must because I have served on camp committees for 7 out of the last 10 years and attended camp for 6 of those years!
2010 - pregnant with Andrew (30 weeks pregnant) - Arizona
2011 - Andrew was 8-9 months old - Arizona
2012 - pregnant with Kendall (27-28 weeks pregnant) - Arizona
2015 - the summer we decided to move to Utah from Arizona - Arizona
2016 - first summer in our new ward - Utah
2017 - called as ward camp director, but Carson was due the exact week of camp, so I didn't attend but still served on the camp committee - Utah
2019 - here we go again! - Utah
I will also serve in 2020 as ward camp director and it will be Rachel's first year of camp!!
This year, the lowlight was visiting the camp we had booked for the first week of June (per the Bishop's request) and having it be covered in snow. With a week and a half notice, we changed our plans and booked a spot up AF canyon at Mutual Dell. It was a lot of last minute changes, but it turned out great! One of the highlights was working with and getting to know Suzie Balser, who is talented and lovely and patient. The girls in this ward are always low drama - thank you for that. The first night, some girls from another ward zip-tied a few of our tents full of girls (thankfully no one peed their pants) and they had to get help getting out in the morning. We investigated throughout the week and finally figured out who did it. We left the last night about 10p and left those girls an alarm clock set to go off at 2:30am just outside their tent. We also felt the Spirit and bonded and all that good stuff too.
