Spring Break - Moab

I always complained when I was growing up that we spent our spring breaks spring cleaning - and we did - we worked really hard and I am sure we had some fun too (I just don't remember).  I wanted to be a fun mom and not make my kids spring clean, but it is actually a really good skill for them to learn.  So we spring clean in the mornings, and then do something fun in the afternoons.  We went bowling, went to Discovery Park, got Chick-Fil-A, had cousins over, etc.

At the last minute, we decided to go to Moab for the weekend! Brandon took work off on Friday and we stayed at the Marriott.  The hotel was fantastic - it included breakfast, a large pool and waterfall features, basketball court, ping pong, checkers/chess, connect four.  The weather was amazing - 65-75 degree highs each day.

We hiked Delicate Arch first thing since it is something that Rachel has been wanting to see.  The kids did really well with the 3.4 mile roundtrip hike.

On the second day, we hiked to Corona & Bowtie Arch (2.3 miles roundtrip) and it included ropes to assist up steep parts and a ladder at one point.  It was a good amount of adventure for the kids.  There was also a good amount of cairns (stacked rocks) that we named snowman village.

There's a large sandhill right across the entrance to Arches that we hiked up and ran down.  We also brought our electric scooters and rode on the trail at Lions Park along the Colorado River.

On Sunday, we did a short walk to Double Arch (.6 miles).  Carson got progressively worse at hiking each day.  He asked to be carried a lot by the third day.

I had to teach the YW lesson (with the help of a couple YW), so Rachel and I joined the zoom call on Sunday morning and then we headed home.
