Carseat

Alright all you moms out there - since you have already done the research, I'd love your input. We're getting close to needing a new forward-facing carseat for Rachel (it's getting to be a tight squeeze for her). Where did you buys yours? What brand? What did it cost? Any other suggestions? Please leave a comment.

THANKS a ton!

Morgan's is Graco Step 2 Design in Bailey. I love it because it reclines a lot so its great if you travel quite a bit. However, it is very big so that is the only thing I don't like about it. I believe it was about $150. Good Luck!

I asked the same questions on my blog here- http://jonandem.blogspot.com/2008/10/questions-for-you.html

Most people said to get a Britax Marathon. And in addition to that, I got an email today about Amazon having a sale on Britax seats, 20% off that I think I'll be taking advantage of. :)

We have Britax Marathons as well and love them. I think we got them for $280 each which was a good deal at the time, but now that the 2009 models are out, you should be able to get a really good deal on the 2008 models, like $230ish.
http://babycheapskate.com/ always lists good places for great deals. Scroll down a bit for Britax deals.
I also really looked into the Boulevards, but since my kids like to look at each other a lot, I thought it would be restricting. With only one kid, you might like that one.

Based on Consumer Reports in April it said the Britax Marathon and Roundabout are the safest. So I decided on the roundabout because it holds the baby up until 40 lbs which is about 3 or 4 years old and it is smaller so easier to fit in cars. I figured once we had another child that needed a bigger car seat I would just get the Marathon (it goes up to 60lbs) or I would get a booster seat for Lucas. As far is price the roundabout is cheaper than the Marathon another reason I went with it. I think I paid $180 on sale. Just check out websites, ebay, craigslist I bet you could get one on sale. I also like that it reclines. Hope that helps

We got a Cosco high-back booster seat from Walmart. It was about $45 and it does the job. We liked it enough that we bought a second for Abby. I'm all about spending as little as you can -- especially when you are livin' on student loans :)

We have the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 and have loved it (it's an Alpha Omega Elite chair we just liked the Eddie Bauer patterns better). It is not near as bulky as a lot of the others we looked at. Mason grew out of his infant seat when he was 8 months old so we made sure to get one that can be rear-facing or front-facing because they are supposed to stay rear-facing until they are one. This is the same seat Kacie got for Cannon and I got it off her recommendation.

So, if you'd like the britax marathon but don't want to pay the $280+ for it, get a Fisher Price Safe Voyage. They're basically the same car seat, made by britax, getting great reviews and I think I paid about $150 for the one Sam is in right now. I just googled or nexttag'd to find the best deal (just found it for $130.) GOOD LUCK!

Forgot to say HI! I'm so glad everything is going well for you both. They just changed all ward boundaries in the Stake-we 'adopted' about 150 people but didn't lose any-whew! Take care :)

I got a Britax and a Graco. And I totally prefer the Britax. They sit up higher, the restraints are very easily adjustable and I just like it better.
I can't believe how big Rachael is getting. She is so adorable!!!

You absolutely positively CANNOT go wrong with a Britax Marathon. I have the Britax Roundabout, which is both forward and rear facimg. Britax are pricey, but they are the best seats I've ever come across, safety wise, ease of use, and quality.

You won't regret it.

I just bought a new Roundabout for Liam, because Ethan's expired (6 years old)

I buy the Roundabout and typically move my boys (because they are so big, into boosters at about 3.5 years old). The Marathon will go a lot longer and where Rach-y is a big girl, I'd probably go with the Marathon, if you'd like her to stay in a 5 point harness as long as possible.

we also use the same Eddie Baur 3 in 1 its great! you can use it from birth up to 100 lbs! We got ours on the internet for about $85.00 (that was with free shipping) I've seen it close to 200.00 so make sure you still do some research of your own to find the best deal!

Hey Whitney,
I got an Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 from Sam's Club for about $90. I love it. It's good from birth until they are 100 lbs ( it turns into a booster). I hear the Britax are really nice but they are really expensive. I thought buying a new car seat was a huge deal but I learned that every car seat has to meet the same regulation. In the end you just pick one that fits your needs.

Britax. Highest safety ratings. Is the extra $100 going to mean anything to you after a car accident? I don't think so.
