Andrew turns 6

If I have learned anything about Andrew and birthdays, it is to celebrate it ALL in one day!!  So we partied all day on his actual birthday.

In the afternoon, Nana took him on a date and they stopped at Puppy Barn.  Nana had spotted a puppy there earlier in the week that she was thinking about buying.  She ended up buying the dog (Milo) for her and my dad with Andrew on his birthday, and he was so excited to be part of the process!  And now, because of this, Andrew and Milo have a special bond (much to Rachel's dismay).

He requested an ice cream cake, and Brandon has retired from cake making - NO!!  So the week before, I practiced by doing an ice cream cake with two ice cream layers with oreo cookies and homemade fudge in the middle and the outside had a whip cream frosting.  Andrew was not impressed with all the extras.  He said, "Mom, I just want mint chocolate chip ice cream and the white frosting and that's it!"  So while I was checking out the ice cream, I saw that the big containers were shaped almost like a cake, so I got a big tub of mint ice cream and flipped it over onto my cake pan and stuck it in the freezer - it took a total of 5 minutes.  Then I frosted it with whip cream frosting and he said it was "perfect".  Ha ha!  Best cake hack ever!

For Andrew's friend party, we had ninja training and if they made it through all the ninja tasks, then they'd become ninjas and earn a sword and mask.  They took it super seriously, which made it so fun!  We had a balance beam (balance), balloon fighting (self defense), wii dance (focus), ninja says (listening), laser beam course (agility), obstacle course, etc.  Brandon helped a ton with the party, which made it a lot more fun!  Some of his buddies took it very literally - we saw our cousin, Cole, at the soccer game the next day, and he hadn't taken off his mask!  And Sawyer, scared his parents half to death in the middle of the night with his mask on and sword acting like a stealth ninja!

Andrew loves clothes, so Brandon and I game him all clothes for his birthday ... and he was ... THRILLED!  He was so grateful and happy!  We also gave him a few coupons - two 10 minutes of jumping on the trampoline with dad and one night's sleep in mom & dad's bed, which he redeemed that very night!  These gifts are Andrew in a nutshell.  He also got a big boy bike from Grandma/Grandpa and he has been riding it every single day.  Andrew also was thrilled with the alphabet transforming robots from Nana/Papa.  The backstory is that Andrew found the letter S robot in front of the school weeks ago, so we turned it in to the school's lost and found (after a lot of convincing and encouraging because he wanted to keep it).  Andrew kept asking me (relentlessly) if I could call and find out if anyone had collected the toy.  I called the school, and explained the situation, but they had a rule that they couldn't give us anything out of the lost and found that wasn't ours.  Andrew was very disappointed.  I searched on the internet and finally found the same toy, but Nana got him the entire alphabet as a complete surprise.

Nana's new puppy, Milo that Andrew got to go with her to get.
